16th century mosque in Ayodhya.

"The first time I went to Ayodhya and Faizabad in my life was in 2008 in the company of a Congress leader friend," said Vaghela, who rebelled against the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1995 and subsequently switched over to the Congress.

The accident occurred at Ellisbridge area of the city last night when the labourers were engaged in digging.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who visited the spot, said: "This is a very tragic event. The construction of the underpass is being overseen by the Railways who will conduct a probe. I have ordered the AMC to carry out a separate probe."

Abhijit ChadhaAhmedabad, Nov 19 : Pune's Aditya Bhandarkar shot one of only two under-par rounds Thursday to set up a final-day clash with overnight leader Abhijit Chadha at the LG Gujarat Open at the par-72 Kensville Golf Club.

The 20-year-old carded a round of one-under 71 in the day to tie Chadha at four-over 220 for the tournament.

Late bogeys pulled Chadha back and the two players will now go head-to-head in the last round in search of their maiden win on Tour.

Pawan Kumar is now nine shots behind the leaders, alongside Ambala's Manav Das.

India 190/2 in second innings against Sri Lanka

Gautam Gambhir Ahmedabad, Nov :  India were 190 for two in their second innings, trailing by 144 runs against Sri Lanka on the fourth day of the first cricket Test at Sardar Patel Stadium here.

Gautam Gambhir (74) and nightwatchman Amit Mishra (12) were at crease at stumps. Virender Sehwag (51) and Rahul Dravid (38) were the wickets to fall.

Sri Lanka declared their first innings at 760 for seven, that gave them a lead of 334 runs. Mahela Jayawerdene (275) and Prasanna Jayawerdene (154) were involved in a record 385-run stand for the sixth wicket.19.(IANS)

Chadha carded a round of one-under 71 to open up a one-shot lead. Pune's Aditya Bhandarkar and Delhi lad Pawan Kumar were placed second, one back at level-par for the tournament after both players returned identical rounds of even-par 72.

Karan Vasudeva was placed fourth at two-over 74 while Chandigarh youngster Angad Cheema was one back at three-over 75.

20 Pakistani fishermen arrested by Coast GuardGandhinagar, Nov 9 : Three Pakistani fishing boats with 20 fishermen were seized by the Coast Guard off the Kutch-Saurashtra coast, officials said Monday.

The three Pakistani boats were intercepted by a Coast Guard patrol vessel and seized after they were found to be fishing in Indian waters off Jhakhau on the Kutch coast, officials in Porbandar, 440 km from the state capital.

Brought to shore along with their craft, the fishermen have been placed under arrest.

Narendra Modi Gandhinagar, Nov 8 : Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi reshuffled the top brass of the state administration, transferring 80 bureaucrats and 19 police officers in one sweep late Saturday.

The transfers came within a day of chief minister resuming office Friday.    

Among those transferred were 36 officers of the rank of secretary and principal secretary and 44 district level officers and 19 police officers.

NTPC intends to establish two 50 Mw solar projects in GujaratNational Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) envisages to install two solar power facilities of 50 Mw each in Gujarat. At the beginning, the company will establish a solar power generation capacity of 100 Mw in the state, which may go up to 300 Mw at a later phase.

Functionaries of NTPC stated in a communiqué that the proposed plants will be located in Kutch and Banaskantha districts.

Gujarat government has already granted approval to National Thermal Power Corporation’s 50 Mw solar thermal power units.
