Tight security for PM''s polling booth in Assam

AssamGuwahati, Apr 22 : Authorities in Guwahati have beefed up security at a school where Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is expected to cast his vote in the second phase of Lok Sabha polls.

Singh along with his wife Gursharan Kaur are expected to cast their votes on Thursday.

Police officials said ordinary voters would not be put to trouble by the extra security for the Prime Minister.

During her visit, Sonia Gandhi will address election meetings at Allahabad, Faizabad and Lucknow.

Rahul is scheduled to address a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh's Panna district, which will go to poll on April 23. .

Panna district comes under Khajuraho Lok Sabha seat.

Residents anguish over bomb blast incidents in AssamGuwahati, April 13: Residents across Assam have expressed deep resentment about the mayhem caused by militants in the recent past.

The recent serials blasts in Assam have once again strengthened the people's belief that militants are only concerned about materialistic goals, and not the society's welfare.

The four bomb explosions claimed the lives of eight people and injured 62 others.

PM cancels address to rally in AssamGuwahati, Apr. 7 : The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has cancelled plans to address an election rally in Dibrugarh, Assam, due to inclement weather in the area.

The cancellation of the rally came even as death toll in Monday's serial blasts in Assam went up to ten.

A woman succumbed to shrapnel and burn injuries at the Gauhati Medical College this morning. Sahida Khatun Khatun was wounded in the Maligaon blast.

The blasts rocked Guwahati, Dhekiajuli, Mankachar and Bokajan areas.
