Philippines President to arrive today

Mumbai, Oct 4 : Philippines President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will arrive here on a three-day visit today.

Arroyo's visit is the first to India by a Philippines President in over ten years. The last was by the then President, Fidel Ramos, in March 1997.

During her visit to New Delhi, Arroyo will call on President Pratibha Patil, who will host a banquet in her honour on Friday.

On the same day, Arroyo, accompanied by seven cabinet ministers, will also call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to hold bilateral talks.

Chasing a target of 307 runs set by Australia, India was all out for 222 runs with more than two overs to go.

India lost its first four wickets in quick succession and before the end of first fifteen overs, Gautam Gambhir, Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa were back to pavilion scoring 7,16, 10 and 41 runs respectively.

A human rights report has indicated that over four lakh children, mostly girls and under 18, are involved as child labour in India’s cottonseed fields. The report stated that around 4,16,000 children under 18, nearly half of which are less than 14 years, are doing work in the States of Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
