Financial Tech Group To Establish Power Exchange Soon

Chennai: Financial Technologies (India) Ltd has got nod from the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) to establish India’s first national level power trading platform called ‘Indian Energy Exchange Limited (IEX)’ for trading electricity.

IEX, which is promoted by Financial Technologies, will be a pan-India neutral and transparent electronic demutualised exchange for competent price discovery in the electricity market. PTC India Ltd has responded favorably to obtain 26% stake in IEX.

Surat tense after cow protection body member killed

Surat, Sept 19 : Tension prevailed in Surat on Wednesday when an irate mob set buses on fire to protest the murder of a member of the local cow protection body.

Akhil Bharatiya Gauraksha Samiti (ABGS) Vice President Jaswant Darbar was killed by unknown assailants late on Monday night.

Angry mob damaged public property and set several houses in Kosadi village of Mangrol taluka on fire. Police had to use tear gas shells to disperse the mob.

Antony calls for strengthening coast guard

New Delhi, Sept 19 : Defence Minister A K Antony today underlined the need to strengthen and consolidate the overall capabilities of the Coast Guard to meet the growing challenges to the country’s maritime zones.

Addressing the 26th Coast Guard Commanders’ Conference here, he said there is an urgent need to keep India’s vast maritime zones under ‘round the clock surveillance’ by employing surface and air efforts.
