Management Student ends in Mental Hospital after Ragging

Sanjay Pal Singh ended in mental hospital after ragging by few seniors. Sanjay recently got admission to MCA course at a private management institute in Lucknow.

As per the reports, Sanjay got admission at Sahara Arts and Management Academy. He was allegedly ragged by students from Lucknow University who were his seniors and were living in the same hostel.

Eight killed in UP road mishap

Budaon (Uttar Pradesh), Sept 17: At least eight persons were killed and four were injured in a road accident near Sahswan in Uttar Pradesh’s Budaon District this morning.

Pratibha Gives Away 53rd National Film Awards

New Delhi: President Pratibha Patil gave away the 53rd National Film Awards for the year 2005, and also presented far-famed film producer Shyam Benegal with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the dazzling ceremonial occasion.

While lecturing at the function, Patil emphasized on the uniqueness of the films, adding up that country’s rich history, traditions and background presents a strong base for the novelty and uniqueness of the Indian cinema.

BJP, VHP claim ‘victory’ after Centre withdraws ‘Ram Setu’ affidavit

New Delhi, Sept 14: Hailing the UPA Government’s decision to withdraw the affidavit in the Sethusamudram case as the ‘victory’ of Hindus, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday sought an apology from the Centre “for hurting the sentiments of Hindus by raising question over existence of Lord Ram”.

They also demanded that work on the Sethusamudram Ship Canal Project be stopped immediately.

430,000 Assamese stranded by floods

Morigaon (Assam), Sept. 14: At least 430,000 Assamese in over 4000 villages have been affected by the latest bout of monsoon-related floods.

The hardest hit of the 21 districts in the state includes Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Cahchar and Morigaon.

Several rivers, including the main Brahmaputra, are in spate. The State Government has banned the movement of ferries and boats. Makeshift boats and rafts, however, are being allowed to move through the floodwaters.

Inflation Rate Falls To 3.5% From 3.79%

Mumbai: For the week ended September 1, inflation rate, which is based on the wholesale-price-index dangled to 3.5 per cent as compared to 3.79 per cent in the previous week.

In late January, annual inflation jumped to a more than two-year high of 6.69 per cent, but relented after the RBI stiffened plan and the administration slash duties on a slew of commodities in order to chill prices.
