Islamabad, Mar. 20 : A worried Pakistan has decided to raise the issue of a possible extension of the US covert war to Baluchistan with the CIA chief Leon Panetta during his visit to the country.

Panetta would be arriving here on a two day visit on Friday.

"Pakistani authorities will raise this issue with the CIA chief when he arrives here and he will be cautioned that drone attacks on Balochistan could be catastrophic for the country's stability," The Nation quoted a top Pakistani official, as saying.

Islamabad, Mar. 19 : The Pakistan Government has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court challenging the apex court’s verdict which disqualified former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif from contesting elections.

According to The News, the petition was filed by Attorney General of Pakistan, Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa.

Islamabad, Mar 19 : The United Nations has expressed its concerns about the well being of its abducted official John Solecki, and is trying hard for his release at the earliest, an official of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees said.

Solecki, a UN refugee agency (UNHCR) official in the southwestern province of Baluchistan, was kidnapped at gunpoint in Quetta on February 2.

Islamabad, Mar. 19 : Mehar Khalil, the driver of the bus carrying the Sri Lankan cricket players which was attacked, has been given a 10 day family visa for Sri Lanka.

Following his heroic effort to save the Sri Lankan cricket team from the terror attack, Lankan players showered praise on Khalil and invited him to visit their country.

Islamabad, Mar. 18 : a Pakistani anti-terrorism court has extended the police remand of three Mumbai attack suspects by another two days.

Anti-terror Court judge Sakhi Mohammad Kahut remanded Lashker-e-Taiba operatives Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, Zarar Shah and Abu al-Qama to the custody of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

They are being held in Rawalpindi's high-security Adiala Jail.

Islamabad, Mar. 18 : Pakistan People Party (PPP) leader and former information minister Sherry Rehman Wednesday denied reports that she had resigned from the party.

She told newsmen that she did want to create any kind of crack in the party.

"PPP doesn't want to put any curb on media, she said, adding, she has not quit the party's position."
