Pak to continue its political, moral and diplomatic support to people of Kashmir

Pakistan FlagIslamabad, Feb. 5 : Pakistan has reiterated that it would continue to support the freedom struggle of the Kashmiri people, with both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister saying that they would pursue a resolution of the Kashmir dispute based on the wishes of Kashmiri people.

Zardari in the message on Kashmir solidarity day said that Pakistan would continue its resolute political, moral and diplomatic support to the struggle of the Kashmiri people.

Lufti to make tell-all documentary about Spears’ meltdown

Washington, Feb 5 : Britney Spears'' infamous ex-manager Sam Lutfi is set to make a tell-all documentary detailing the singer's highly-publicised meltdown, according to reports.

It is believed that Lutfi is planning out details with U. S. TV network UPN to make the explosive programme.

UPN also broadcasts Spears'' 2005 reality series `Britney & Kevin: Chaotic'.

Spears'' parents, Jamie and Lynne, publicly blamed Lutfi for the series of emotional breakdowns that had led Britney to lose custody of her two sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline in 2007.

But, Lutfi, 34, who was the singer's manager during her 2007 meltdown, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Spears and her parents on February 4.

Pak probe on Mumbai attacks may claim Bangladeshi link

Islamabad, Feb. 5 : Pakistani investigators probing the Mumbai attacks have alleged a Bangladeshi connection in the terror strikes.

They claim to have evidence of the banned Bangladesh based militant organisation, Harkat-ul-Jihad-al Islami playing a major role in planning the attack and training the terrorists.

Information in this regard will soon be shared with India in the form of a reciprocal dossier made by Pakistan's premier investigation agency, the FIA, the Dawn reports.

Preliminary investigations are likely to indicate that the Mumbai attack was the handiwork of an `international network of Muslim fundamentalists' present in South Asia and spread all the way to Middle East.

No direct flights to the US, Pak Defence Secretary tells PAC

Islamabad, Feb. 5 : The United States (US) has imposed a ban on direct flights to and from Pakistan into the US after Islamabad's refusal to share complete data of it nationals traveling abroad with the US post 9/11, Pakistan's Defence Secretary Athar Ali has informed the Public Accounts Committee.

Ali told the PAC of the National Assembly on Wednesday that the government had purchased a Boeing 777 for direct flights to the US, but that could not happen and all the flights to the US had a stopover in the United Kingdom, the Daily Times reported.

The committee took up an audit para regarding uneconomical and reckless purchase of eight aircrafts resulting in the extra expenditure of Rs 13.26 billion.

Mumbai probe ‘gradually’ moving in right direction, needs more time: Gilani

Islamabad, Feb. 5 : While Pakistan may be ready with its reply to the Indian `dossier' on the Mumbai terror attacks, Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has made it clear that the probe into the Mumbai carnage is still being carried on, and more time is needed to arrive at a conclusion.

"We are extremely serious in the investigation of the Mumbai terrorist attacks, and are `gradually' moving in the right direction, but we need time," The Daily Times quoted Gilani, as saying.

Commenting on Pakistan's commitment to thwart terrorism from its soil he said: "Pakistan has taken all necessary steps to counter the rising militancy in the tribal areas along the northern Pakistan-Afghanistan border."

UN announces three-man committee to probe Bhutto’s murder

Islamabad, Feb. 5 : The United Nations (UN) has announced that it would set up a commission to probe the killing of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

UN's Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon said that an independent three-member committee would be established to investigate Bhutto's assassination, on December 27, 
2007.

"I intend to establish an independent commission of inquiry to be headed by a distinguished person who will be appointed very shortly," The Daily Times quoted Ban Ki-Moon, as saying here.

Pakistan Presidency spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said that an outline for the commission is being prepared.
