The PTF has lodged a strong protest with the International Tennis Federation (ITF) over the shifting and demanded that the matches should be played at any neutral venue.

Zardari asks people of Pakistan to unite against terrorism

Asif Ali ZardariIslamabad, Jan. 2 : Worried by the internal conflicts in the country, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has asked the public of Pakistan to put aside their differences and unite in fighting the war against terrorism.

At a meeting with the delegation of representatives, the Zardari said: "The Taliban must be defeated to restore peace and stability in the country."

The recent upsurge in the activities of the Taliban in tribal areas has raised fears of a conflict between the military and the Taliban militants.

Mumbai attacks: Pak firmly denies presence of FBI on its soil

Islamabad, Jan. 2 : The Pakistan Government on Friday firmly denied that a team of the U. S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was in the country to investigate possible leads connected with the November 26-29 terror attacks on Mumbai that caused the deaths of over 170 people and injured over 300.

Islamabad also denied reports in the media that an FBI team had visited Faridkot in Punjab Province, as also the home of Ajmal Amir Kasab, the surviving terrorist involved in the Mumbai raid, as part of its investigations. The authorities made it clear that there was no proposal to allow the FBI to enter or stay in Pakistan for any kind of investigation.

Pakistan rejects Lashkar operative’s confession

Islamabad, Jan. 2: Pakistan has denied reports suggesting that a Lashkar-e-Tayyaba operative had confessed to his involvement in the Mumbai attacks.

"We have no such information. We don't accept that report," the Daily Times quoted Pakistan spokesman Shahidullah Baig, as saying.

Attacking India for not providing `key evidence' about the Mumbai attacks, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Sadiq said: "We are awaiting evidence from India to enable our own investigations to make progress. We are currently engaged in the process of our own investigation."

US drone attack kills four al-Qaeda militants in Pakistan

Islamabad - A US pilotless aircraft Friday fired two missiles at a suspected militant hideout, killing four al-Qaeda militants in Pakistan's tribal region bordering Afghanistan, an intelligence official said.

The Hellfire missiles targeted a primary school used by the militants as a hideout at around 10:30 am (0530 GMT) in Maidan Narai village of Ladah, a town in the tribal district of South Waziristan.

"Four foreigners have been confirmed dead and three are injured," said the intelligence official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The term foreigner is locally used for al-Qaeda-linked militants of Arab and Central Asian origin.

The missiles targeted a vehicle carrying several Islamist insurgents at around 11:15am (0600 GMT) in Kari Kot area of South Waziristan tribal district, a known sanctuary for al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters.
