Maoists kill four security guards in Jharkhand

JharkhandLatehar (Jharkhand), Apr 6 : Maoists have killed four security guards of a proposed power plant in Jharkhand’s Latehar District.

After a spate of attacks on school buildings and government buildings, a group of naxals attacked the site office of the Abhijeet Group, which has proposed a power plant at Chakla village in Latehar district.

Three guards died on the spot, while one succumbed on way to hospital. One injured guard has been admitted to a Ranchi hospital.

Self-help groups empower Jharkhand rural womenGumla (Jharkhand), Mar 19 : Women in the Gumla block of Jharkhand have joined self-help groups that make detergents and phenols to improve living conditions.

These women are being trained under the Swarnajayanti Gramin Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY), a government scheme.

Banks provide these self-help groups money, which is used as capital and subsidy for starting the business. Initially the district administration gave them 25,000 rupees and then raised it to 2,50,000 rupees with a subsidy of 1,15,000 rupees.
