Chidambaram asks Karnataka CM to maintain law and order on Valentine''s Day

P ChidambaramBanglore, Feb. 12 : In the backdrop of threats issued by some outfits to organize protests on Valentine''s Day, Home Minister P Chidambaram has asked the Karnataka CM to ensure law and order by taking "preventive and punitive" action in the state.

Chidambaram has written a letter to Karnataka CM B S Yeddyurappa drawing his attention to reports of Rashtriya Hindu Sena and Sri Ram Sene were planning to organize protests across the state on February 14.

Muthalik calls off Valentine’s Day protest in Bengaluru

Karnataka MapBengaluru, Feb 12 : Pramod Muthalik, the founder of the Shri Ram Sena, has called off Valentine's Day protests in Bengaluru, and added that protests would be held in other parts of the state.

Muthalik said that the decision to call off the protests was taken after they received specific information that some miscreants were planning to disrupt peace.

"I have specific information that there are some miscreants will intentionally try and disrupt a peaceful protest by us so that the Sena and the government in Karnataka gets a bad name," he said.

Antony says LCAs, MBTs the highlight of Seventh Aero India show

Making these remarks while inaugurating the Asia''s premier air show at Yelahanka Air Force Station today, he said the performance of LCAs and MBTs was very satisfactory as they stole the show at the grand spectacle.

Antony on Wednesday said that India''s descision to maintain its restraint in connection with Pakistan''s probe of the dossier on the November 2008 attack should not be seen as a sign of New Delhi''s weakness.

Addressing the media on the sidelines of the Aero-India show here, Antony said: "India''s keeping restraint should not be considered its weakness. Our armed forces are fully prepared and we are reassessing our diplomatic options as well."
