Kanmun (Mizoram)/Kanchanpur (Tripura), Nov. 26 : Mizoram, which is due to undergo Assembly elections for 40 seats just a few days from now, is not witnessing any posters, election rallies or road shows or campaigning through high-decible loudspeakers roaming all around the State.
Unlike other poll-bound States, there is no big hoopla about elections in any Mizo village. The skyline is rarely broken by big flex, poster or other publicity materials of candidates.
Aizwal, Nov 24 : An increasing number of women candidates are joining the electoral fray in the forthcoming assembly elections in Mizoram, scheduled to be held on December 2.
Mizo women have not been getting due importance in the state electoral politics although their contribution to Mizo society, economy and the church of the Christian-dominated state has been immense.
This has been despite the women voters outnumbering the male voters.
According to records, out of the total of 611,124 voters, there are 308,884women voters as against the 302,240 male voters.
Aizwal (Mizoram), Nov 22 : Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has promised to develop Mizoram in a bid to woo the youth of the State
Addressing a public meeting here on Friday Gandhi said: "We should try and develop Mizoram the way it should. It will be a government that will look after the poor in Mizoram and most importantly it will work with youth to ensure a bright future for Mizoram."
He also described remote states as being equally important for the development of the country.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with government of Mizoram with regard to Urban Co-operative Banks (UCB) in the State of Mizoram.
The source close to the bank remarked that the central bank would also be assessing the training, computerization needs of the Urban Co-operative Banks in the state of Mizoram with the objective of upgrading their human resources skills and technological infrastructure.
