New Delhi  - A series of coordinated attacks by terrorists across India's financial hub Mumbai late on Wednesday killed at least 78 people, including three senior police officers, and left many more injured, officials and news reports said.

Groups of two to four heavily armed gunmen opened fire with automatic weapons and lobbed grenades in at least eight places in south Mumbai, including the five-star Taj and Trident hotels, the city's main railway terminus, a hospital and a cinema hall.

Armed gunmen were still holed up at the railway station and the Taj and Trident hotels, AN Roy, director general of police of Maharashtra state said. Mumbai is the capital of Maharashtra.

Mumbai, Nov 26 : Mumbai police officials have taken to Yoga to beat the stress of their hectic schedules.

Around 5,000 officers of the Mumbai Police Force are participating in a weeklong yoga camp to fight the stress caused by their overstretched duties.

The yoga camp has been organised after the city''s police department sought help from a 90-year-old yoga institute to distress its personnel. The institute readily obliged free of cost.

The branded vada-pav was introduce in a vada-pav conference, 'Vada-pav Sammelan', in Mumbai.

In the function 27 professional vada-pav makers from Mumbai took part in a competion held to find out the taste that could be used as a standard for the branded vada-pav to be launched at 100 outlets January 23 next year.

Police have arrested at least 10 people, including Lt. Colonel Srikant Prasad Purohit, a serving army officer, Dayanand Pandey, a Hindu monk and God-woman Pragya Singh over alleged involvement in the blast in Malegaon.

The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra, which is investigating the case, last week invoked the tough anti-gangster Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the suspects.

Police argued for fresh custody of the accused but the court turned down their plea.

The ongoing Global financial crisis would marginally affect Indian agriculture sector and it would remain stable at around 4% growth rate. The views were expressed by Union minister for consumer affairs, food and public distribution, Sharad Pawar.

Mr. Pawar was speaking in the sidelines of a conference organized by Forward Markets Commission in Mumbai.
