Fresh recruitment in Nepal Army against pact: Ian MartinKathmandu, Jan 30 : In the wake of deepening controversy over fresh recruitment in the Nepal Army (NA), former United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) Chief Ian Martin has said that the NA cannot fill its vacant posts as per the agreement.

Kantipur quoted Martin as saying that it would be against the agreement to make new recruitment in the Nepal Army.

Koshi reverts to its original course

Koshi reverts to its original courseKathmandu, Jan 27 : After displacing thousands of lives in Sunsari district, the Koshi River is set to run through its original course.

The Koshi River changed its course on August 18, 2008 and flowed through settlements in Sunsari and Saptari districts.

The river started flowing in its original course from Monday evening after a team of more than 500 workers built cofferdams using sand sacks, concrete and galvanised wire.

Nepal President Dr Ram Baran YadavKathmandu, Jan 27 : Nepal President Dr Ram Baran Yadav''s proposed visit to India has been postponed by a few days considering the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh''s health.

President''s press advisor Rajendra Dahal informed that Dr Yadav''s India visit was put off citing ailing health condition of Dr. Singh.

President Yadav had planned to leave for India on February 11 on what was described as a goodwill visit.

However, no official decision had been taken regarding the President''s visit to India, Dahal said.
