Fearing for life, foreigners plan to leave Pak after Saturday’s hotel blastIslamabad, Sept 21: In the aftermath of Saturday’s suicide attack on Marriott Hotel killing around 60 people, foreigners living in Pakistan fear for their lives and are said to be planning to leave for their respective home countries.

Many who had dismissed these smaller attacks are now considering leaving. “I’ll be speaking to my boss tomorrow,” said an unidentified Briton who has worked in Islamabad for a Pakistani firm for several years.

Hindus in Karachi begin preparations for NavratrasKarachi, Sept 22 : The Hindus living in Karachi have begun preparations for the forthcoming “Navratras”, the nine-day fasting period preceding Diwali scheduled to begin from October 1.

Temples are being decorated and stalls erected to sell puja-samagri. In some temples, shopkeepers are already selling Pooja items, including brass lamps, charnamantra pots, and incense sticks stands on makeshift stalls.

Hotel Marriott owner vows to rebuild it in three months

Islamabad, Sept 22 : Sadruddin HashwaniThe Marriott Hotel, which was reduced to ashes in Saturday’s massive suicide attack detonated by around 1000 kg RDX, will be rebuilt within three months at an estimated cost of Rs 60-70 crore, its owner Sadruddin Hashwani said here last evening.

He assured his staff, around 1000 in numbers, would be rendered jobless during this period and will get their regular salaries.

After hotel blast British Airways suspends air services to Pak

Marriott HotelLahore, Sept 22 : British Airways (BA) has suspended flights to Pakistan after Saturday’s Marriott Hotel suicide attack in Islamabad in which at least 60 people, including four foreigners, were killed and more than 200 dead.

The air services would remain suspended until September 29, the Daily Times quoted British authorities as saying.

However, Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Director General said that he had no information regarding the suspension of British air services.

India, Pakistan to discuss cross-LoC trade, CBMs todayNew Delhi, Sept 22: Officials from India and Pakistan will meet here today to discuss the modalities for launching cross Line-of-Control (LoC) trade and other Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs) related to Jammu and Kashmir.

In an effort to ensure early start of new measures, the Joint Working Group on cross-LoC and CBMs, comprising senior officials, will seek to exchange ideas of the two sides.

Issue like the launch of commerce on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad route will be discussed during the talks.
