Russia's Medvedev to begin two-day official visit to Armenia

Moscow/Yerevan - President Dmitry Medvedev began a two-day visit on Monday to Armenia, caught in a precarious security deadlock in the Caucasus following Russia's recent war with Georgia.

The trips marks Medvedev's fifth meeting this year with Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian, a firm Moscow ally.

"The main provision on the agenda of Medvedev's visit will be talks in the tete-a-tete and extended formats talks with Sarkisian,"

a Kremlin official said on customary condition of anonymity Monday. "This vividly proves the high level of political dialog aimed at the further strengthening of strategic partnership."

The official added that trade and economic relations were the primary topics of discussion.

India, Russia to sign civilian nuclear deal in December

New Delhi - Russia and India Monday laid the groundwork for a bilateral nuclear cooperation agreement, paving the way for the signing of the pact during Russian President Dmitri Medvedev's visit to New Delhi in December, officials and news reports said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held discussions with his counterpart, Pranab Mukherjee, in the Indian capital, which focussed on the nuclear agreement, officials in the Indian foreign ministry said.

Under the bilateral nuclear cooperation pact, Russia would build four atomic reactors in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, the IANS news agency reported, quoting Indian diplomatic sources.

India, RussiaNew Delhi, Oct 20 : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov today discussed the conduct of atomic trade and prospect of advancing bilateral cooperation in the field ahead of the maiden visit of President Dmitry Medvedev in December.

They also dicussed construction of reactors by Russia in India.

“We discussed prospects for future bilateral cooperation in the field,” Mukherjee told reporters here after 90 minutes talks with Lavrov.

Gadaffi to travel to Moscow for arms deals this month

Russia GeorgiaMoscow  - Lybian leader Moamer Gadaffi will travel to Moscow on October 31 to meet with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev over weapons purchases and energy deals, business daily Vedemosti cited a Foreign Ministry source as saying.

It is Gadaffi's first visit in over 20 years marking Moscow's renewed Soviet-era ties with the north African state since Russia's Vladimir Putin traveled to Tripoli just after stepping down as president in April.
