Dubai, Nov. 20, 2008 -- A UAE English daily today commented on the UAE's approach to tackling the negative effect of the global economic crisis to restore investor confidence and greater regulation to thwart future threats to its rising economy.

Commenting on the issue editorially today, the Dubai-based "Khaleej times" said: "Making an opportunity out of an ongoing global economic disaster, the UAE has come out with a strategy of its own to restore investor confidence and greater regulation to thwart future threats to its rising economy.

Dubai, 19th Nov. 2008 -- Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum swore in today in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai 26 judges of the Dubai cassation court at a ceremony held at Zabeel Palace.

The new judges pledged to administer justice, respect laws and discharge their duty with complete integrity and loyalty.

Sheikh Mohammed urged the judges to keep away from the government routine while examining cases and do their best to pronounce verdicts on them as quickly as possible so as to serve interests of people and save time.

Dubai, 19th Nov. 2008 -- The infamous US prison in Cuba, Guantanamo Bay, had never been a huge campaign issue for Barack Obama, the incoming US president, a UAE daily paper commented.

''It was not at least the most important issue of the campaign for the Democratic presidential candidate. There were far more serious issues like the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and of course the bigger issue of current economic mess at home,'' wrote Khaleej Times in its editorial.
