British Muslims fighting British troops in Afghanistan

London - British citizens are a part of Taliban forces fighting against international troops in Afghanistan, said British General Ed Butler in an interview published Saturday in the Daily Telegraph.

A former commander in Afghanistan, Butler was quoted as saying "there are British passport holders who live in the UK who are being found in places like Kandahar."

Speaking of the possibility of terrorist activity being planned for Britain in Afghanistan, he added that "there is a link between Kandahar and urban conurbations in the UK."

Scientists create brightest, sharpest and fastest x-ray holograms

London, August 2 : An international team of U. S. and German researchers has produced two of the brightest and sharpest x-ray holograms of microscopic objects ever made, with the help of an approach they claim is thousands of times more efficient than previous x-ray-holographic methods.

This advancement is a result of the efforts of experts associated with the Advanced Light Source (ALS) at the U. S. Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and at FLASH, the free-electron laser in Hamburg.

The researchers have revealed that their approach is inspired by the pinhole camera, a technique known since ancient times.

London, Aug. 2 :Zimbabwe''s President Robert Mugabe Zimbabwe''s President Robert Mugabe has presented senior judges of the high court and labour court with new 32-inch plasma television sets, satellite dishes and Mercedes-Benz cars as reward for their support during the recent controversial elections.

According to The Herald newspaper, a government mouthpiece, revealed that the chief justice and judge president have received 42-inch screens.

The Telegraph said that a total of 16 new Mercedes-Benz E280 cars were also handed out, as well as generators as relief from frequent power cuts.

According to The Telegraph, the jury of eight women and four men had deliberated for almost three weeks after a three month trial at Kingston Crown Court in southwest London, but failed to reach a verdict. It is now understood that the prosecution will seek a retrial.

London, Aug 2 : A former commander of Britain’s forces in Afghanistan has reportedly said that British Muslims were helping the Taliban in their war against UK soldiers in southern Afghanistan.

Brig. Ed Butler, who spent six months commanding British forces in Afghanistan, also revealed fears that militant Islamic groups in south-east Asia were supporting terrorist plots in the UK.

Brig Butler (46) said he had seen evidence that terror groups based in southern Afghanistan were plotting with Muslim extremists in Britain to carry out terror attacks in the UK. “There is a link between Kandahar and urban conurbations in the UK. This is something the military understands but the British public does not,” said Brig. Butler.

British rescuers battle to save stranded whale as hopes fade

whalesLondon - Rescuers battling Friday to save a 10-metre-long whale stranded on a mudflat off the south coast of England said the six-ton mammal had suffered kidney failure and would probably die if it swam out to sea.

The northern bottlenose whale was stranded for 12 hours in Langstone Harbour, in the southern county of Hampshire, before efforts succeeded to refloat it in shallow waters.

Rescuers said blood test showed that the whale was suffering from irreversible renal failure.
