London - Amnesty International Thursday accused the government of Sudan of holding the population of the troubled region of Darfur "hostage" by banning 10 aid agencies from working in the east African country.
"Millions of lives are at stake and this is no time to play political games. Aid agencies provide the bulk of the humanitarian aid required by more than two million vulnerable people," said Tawanda Hondora, Amnesty International's Africa Programme Deputy Director.
London - US popstar Michel Jackson Thursday announced that he would give a "final show of performances" at a series of concerts in London in July.
The former "King of Pop," appearing frail and unsteady, told some 2,000 fans the O2 concert venue in London: "This is it. This is the final curtain call. See you in July."
The announcement, billed as a news conference, had been described as the singer's comeback after his last tour 12 years ago.
A press release said the singer would perform 10 shows in London in July at the O2, the former Millennium Dome.
London - The British government Thursday criticised Sudan for retaliating against international aid workers following the arrest warrant issued against President Omar al-Bashir.
Aid organizations have warned that millions of lives would be put at risk by al-Bashir's decision to expel 10 humanitarian groups from the Darfur region, including Oxfam, Save the Children, Care International and Doctors Without Frontiers.
London - The British government confirmed Thursday that it had reconsidered its position towards Lebanese militant group Hezbollah and was "exploring contacts" with the movement's political wing.

London - A 22-year-old British man was Thursday given a life sentence for stabbing to death a young actor who had a role in the next Harry Potter film.
Karl Bishop, who had a previous conviction for knife crime, murdered 18-year-old Robert Knox in a fight outside a bar in Sidcup, south London, last May.
The court heard that unemployed Bishop "habitually carried knives" and had a previous conviction for a knife attack.
He would have to serve at least 20 years in jail, the Old Bailey Criminal Court in London ruled.
Knox, a promising young actor, had just completed filming a part in Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, in which he played the part of Marcus Belby, when the attack took place.
