Researcher Says Shakespeare was a Cannabis Addict, Wants to Excavate His Tomb for Examination
South African paleontologist, Francis Thackeray and Douglas Spauld-ing Genealogist and Retired English teacher in Chautauqua, US wants to excavate the Shakespeare’s Tomb, to check if the scholar was addicted to drugs or not. These two people are expecting that the permission to dig the tomb will be granted to them.
Prof. Thackeray said that he believes that Shakespeare was a hardcore user of cannabis. He said that even some of his writings have the traces of drugs and that is what helped him in his work.
The Tomb of the Great writer is at the Church of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire and its epitaph states, “Good friend for Jesus sake forbeare/To dig the dust enclosed here/Blessed be the man that spares these stones/And cursed be he that moves my bones”.
To this, Prof. Thackeray has an answer; he said that he would work on the body without shifting a single bone. A team of paleontologists had written to the church authorities to grant them the permission for examining the body. He said, the examination will help in identifying the cause of the great scholar’s death in 1616. The inspection will include the high-technology and the procedure will be done carefully, he said.
However, a spokesperson of the Church said that they have no clue about any application.
