Robbers manage to fool a diamond merchant at the drop of a hat on Ganesh Temple Road in Malad (E) around 3 pm on Sunday.

Six men stopped the car of the manager, Deepak Lalwani who was on his way to a designer's shop in Borivali. He reported that all this men introduced themselves as Income tax officials and clogged his Innova at the middle of the road. They were riding on a Maruti Zen.

Lalwani said, "I was in the impression that these officials must have received some fake information that is why they are asking me to open my bag but in the next second one of them whip out its piston and snatch the bag filled with diamonds worth Rs 80 lakh".

A senior officer of Dindoshi police station told that, they had lodged a complaint of kidnap and robbery. They had sent their manhunt team on the search operation on the basis of the sketches prepared on Lalwani's description.

Authorities revealed that this is the third diamond robbery in this year. Police is expecting that some insider must have emptied information to these attackers.
