Samsung Galaxy series crosses 10 million mark in IndiaSouth Korean electronics giant, Samsung Electronics has achieved a new milestone in the Indian market by recording sales of more than 10 million Galaxy devices in the country since the first Galaxy device was launched in the country in June of 2010.

Samsung had launched its Galaxy brand with the 'Galaxy S' device in June 2010 in the Indian market. The company has since launched a host of devices under the popular series and has now crossed the 10 million mark in the country.

"Innovative devices like the Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy SII and SIII, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Y have caught the imagination of customers and helped us democratize the smartphone experience in the Indian market," said Samsung VP for Mobile, Asim Warsi.

The company's Galaxy series includes a host of successful devices like Galaxy Y, Galaxy SII , Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Tab 2 310 and Galaxy SIII. The company did not announce contributions of individual models but there are indications that Galaxy Y series, Note series and SIII together contributed more than 50 per cent of the sales in the series.

Mr. Warsi also said that Samsung ha been a leading player in the Indian smartphone market. He pointed out that the portfolio of 13 Galaxy devices are priced between Rs 6,790 to Rs 39,990 in the Indian market.
