Samsung launches Galaxy Mega smartphone in IndiaSouth Korean electronics giant, Samsung has announced the launch of its new Galaxy Mega smartphone, which is the biggest smartphones so far, in the Indian market.

The company launched Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 in the country. The new Galaxy devices come with large screen sizes that might appeal top the customers in the developing world. The Mega 5.8 model is powered by a dual-core processor running at 1.4GHz and has 1.5GB RAM. It has an internal memory of 8GB that can be extended upto 64GB through a MicroSd card slot. The device has a 8MP rear camera as well as a 1.9MP front camera for video conferencing.

The Mega 6.3 is powered by a dual-core processor running at 1.7GHz with 1.5GB RAM and has 16GB internal storage. It also has a 8MP primary camera and 1.9MP front camera for video conferencing. The device runs on Google's Android 4.2 Jelly Bean version offering access to a range of apps through the app store to the users in the country.

Vineet Taneja, head of Samsung's mobile division in India said, "Consumers in India are preferring the larger screen displays in their smartphones owing to the time they spend doing more with their devices. Galaxy Mega meets the varying lifestyles of our consumers."

The Galaxy Mega 5.8 is priced at Rs. 25,100 while the larger Galaxy Mega 6.3 is priced at Rs 31,490 in the Indian market.
