SAP has no plan to buy Salesforce
On Friday, German multinational software corporation SAP revealed that it is not going to acquire global cloud computing company Salesforce. com Inc.
Earlier, there were reports that heads of the two companies had been having talks about strategic alliances last year. As per the reports, the talks between the heads included a potential acquisition of Salesforce by SAP.
In an e-mailed statement, SAP spokesperson discarded the rumors and said that the reports which are stating that SAP is considering or ever did consider acquiring Salesforce. com are not true.
Earlier this week, Safra Catz, who has been Chief Executive at Oracle Corporation since April 1999, talked about Salesforce. com. She said that her company could benefit if company like Microsoft Corp acquired the online customer relationship management firm Salesforce. com Inc.
As per some analysts, Microsoft, Oracle and Walldorf headquartered SAP could be the most likely companies to buy Salesforce. com, which is headquartered in San Francisco. According to the analysts, the deal could be the biggest software acquisition on record.
Any of the three companies have not commented on the acquisition deal. Multiple sources familiar with the company said that there is no news about the acquisition. Catz declined to reveal whether Oracle tried to acquire Salesforce. com. Earlier, there were reports that Salesforce. com appointed advisers to work on offer that the company received from an unnamed suitor.
According to Catz, if Microsoft or another rival decides to buy Salesforce. com, then it might help Oracle in the customer relationship management sector. She said, "It would cause a lot of disruption in that market and so I would view that as something that would be helpful to us especially in the short or medium term, dependent on who it was".
Catz revealed that on Thursday while speaking at a media event at Oracle's headquarter in Silicon Valley.
