Sensex Gains 111.19 Pts To Close At 16,519.68
The Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) made some recovery on Thursday to end the day at 16,519.68, up 111.19 points.
The Sensex hit an intra-day high of 16,617.80 and an intra-day low of 16,419.10.
In contrast, the Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) also made a small gain of 27.95 points to close at 4,947.60.
It touched the day's high of 4,980.25 and a low of 4,924.30.
Among the sectoral indices, PSU remained up by 1.87%, accompanied by Oil and Gas index, which soared 1.79%, HC index gained 1.14%, Bankex index zoomed 0.93%, FMCG index climbed 0.84%, Power index mounted 0.23% and CG index went up by 0.19%.
The BSE indices, which suffered a setback included Realty index slipped 2.04%, SML CAP index declined 0.55%, Auto index slipped 0.53% and CD index fell by 0.17%.
The major gainers in the list comprised Sterlite Inds, Rel Infra, HDFC, ITC, SBI, NTPC, Cipla, HUL, ICICI Bank, TCS and Hero Honda.
The losers in the list were JP Asso, HDFC Bank, DLF, Grasim, Maruti Suzuki and Tata Power.
