Sensex Nosedives 165.19 Pts; Bankex, Power, Metal WeakThe stock market continued its run in the negative zone on account of selling pressure witnessed in blue chip stocks.

The BSE Sensex has slipped a bit deeper into the red zone this afternoon.

Banking, metal and realty stocks were the worst smacked ones among the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). These counters lost more than 2% each. But, FMCG sector went up.

Midcap and small cap stocks have also hit badly. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices down 0.82% and 0.71% respectively.

At 01:09 p.m., the 30-share index Sensex lost 165.19 points at 8,935.36 after hitting a high of 9,051.31 and a low of 8,886.56. Meanwhile the broad based Nifty was down by 51.30 points at 2,745.30 after touching a high of 2,787.30 and a low of 2,737.35.

Market breadth was negative; about 818 shares have advanced, 1,307 shares declined, and 83 shares were unchanged.

The major gainers in the 30-share index included Hindustan Unilever (2.99%), ITC   (1.06%), Hindalco Industries (0.62%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.30%), and Jaiprakash Associates (0.08%).

On the other hand, the major losers were Tata Power Company (5.71%), Sterlite Industries (India) (5.41%), Ranbaxy Laboratories (5.27%), ICICI Bank (4.92%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (4.30%) and Reliance Energy (3.80%).
