Sonia Gandhi discussed Indo-S. Africa relations with ANC President Jacob G Zuma

Congress President Sonia GandhiNew Delhi, June 9: Africa National Congress (ANC) President Dr. Jacob G Zuma met Congress President Sonia Gandhi here today and discussed strengthening relations between India and South Africa.

Both the leaders reviewed the ongoing efforts to strengthen and consolidate political, economic, trade and cultural relations between the peoples of the two countries.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Zuma went to Rajghat to pay tributes at the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi.

Dr Zuma will meet Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh this evening. He will also hold discussions with Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia.

He will hold a business meeting with the captains of the Indian industry, before attending dinner in their honour by Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma.

The Africa National Congress and the Indian National Congress will hold delegation-level meeting tomorrow after which they will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance ties between the two parties.

Dr Zuma, who was also the Vice President of South Africa, will lead the delegation to Mumbai on Wednesday for interaction with industry leaders there.

ANC President arrived here on a four-day visit on Sunday. (ANI)
