SpaceX to launch Dragon Capsule on Tuesday morning

SpaceX to launch Dragon Capsule on Tuesday morningPrivate sector firm, SpaceX is planning to launch its Dragon capsule, which will fly to the International Space Station (ISS) to deliver supplies, on Tuesday morning after it replaced a faulty check valve.

The check valve had caused the company to delay the launch that was earlier scheduled for 19 May. SpaceX will become the first private company to send a spacecraft to the ISS following retirement of the NASA's fleet in 2011.

SpaceX will send its unmanned Dragon cargo capsule to the ISS to deliver 1,149 pounds of cargo and it will also bring back 1,455 pounds from the ISS. The craft was originally scheduled for launch on February 7 but the company decided to delay the launch for me tests. The company then decided to launch the craft on April 30, and delayed it further to 7 May.

The company said that it is ready to launch the craft on 19 May but a rocket engine glitch forced SpaceX engineers to cancel the launch and it is now scheduled for launch at 3:44 a. m. EDT on 22 May.

Mike Horkachuck, NASA project executive for SpaceX said, "Since then they have replaced that check valve with a new unit and have tested all the other engines for similar problems and believe they are good to go."
