Sun TV Network’s net profit rises 13.1% in third quarterRegional television major, Sun TV Network has recorded an increase of about 13.1 per cent to Rs 189.88 crore in the third quarter during the third quarter of the year mainly due to higher advertising revenue.

Kalanithi Maran-owned network had reported a net profit of Rs 167.88 crore during the third quarter of the previous year. The company's revenues increased 14.29 per cent to Rs 485.86 crore compared to Rs 425.11 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. The company also said that its advertising revenue increased about 20 per cent to Rs 293 crore during the quarter.

Earnings before interest tax depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of the company rose 10.32 per cent to Rs 376.34 crore during the third quarter of the financial year. The board of the company has approved an interim dividend of Rs 2.50 per share for the year till March 2013.

Sun TV Network offers satellite television channels in four south Indian languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The company also rums FM radio channels across the country.

The shares of the company increased 2.5 per cent in the morning trade today on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
