Surrendered militants donate blood in Tripura

Surrendered militants donate blood in TripuraAgartala, Mar 16 : Once they shed blood in the name of independent Tripura, but today they are donating blood to save lives.

Ishuk Debbarma, a returnee from the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) in an apologetic tone says: “I am sorry if I did something wrong under the command of my leader when I led an underground life, but now after rejoining the mainstream, I have thought of doing something for my nation. I do not have enough money to donate for others, so I am giving my blood in the hope that it will save a helpless life.”

Ananta Debbarma, who was once the second-in-command of the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura organised the blood donation in the office of Hayung Borok Dopha (World Borok Nation) in Malancha Nivas, Government quarters complex in Agartala on saturday.

Annanta claimed that it was first time in Tripura that tribal people were donating blood in an organised manner under one banner.

He said it was good at a time when blood banks in Tripura were passing through a blood availability crisis.

Doctors and medical staff from the Global Educational Net (GENET) run B R Ambedkar Medical College (BRAM) College also came forward to help the donors.

Doctor Prasanta Debbarma said: “I am happy that tribal people have come forward to donate blood.”

Such volunteer donation not only inspires others to do the same, but also keeps donors healthy. (ANI)
