Taiwan stocks fall more than 4 per cent due to profit-taking

Taiwan stocks Taipei - Taiwan stocks plunged more than 4 per cent Friday due to profit-taking and expectation of negative corporate reports due out next week.

The TAIEX weighted index fell 241.79 points, or 4.03 per cent, to close at 5,755.38.

"The main reasons for the fall are profit-taking and investors' expectation of next week's corporate reports for the first quarter, which won't be so good," said Chiu Hsin-ling, executive president of the Industry Bank of Taiwan Securities. (dpa)
