Tata Sons Chairman inaugurates Coke Oven plant on founder’s 174th birthdayTata Sons Chairman Cyrus P Mistry on Sunday inaugurated a new Coke Oven Battery & By-Product facility at the company's Jamshedpur-based steel plant.

The Coke Oven Battery & By-Product Plant, which will operate with a total of 88 ovens, has an annual production capacity of 0.7 million tones. The new plant will also produce 44,000 Nm3/Hr by-product of coke oven gas, 35305 tones coal tar per annum, and 1668 tones pure sulphur per annum.

Inaugurating the new facility, Mr. Mistry said that it was very relevant that the new facility was being launched on the Founder's Day.

It may be noted here that the company also celebrated Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata's 174th Birth Anniversary on the same day.

Mr. Mistry, his predecessor Ratan Tata, Tata Steel managing director Mr. Nerurkar along with a many other senior officials paid floral tribute to Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, who had founded the company.

To celebrate the birth anniversary of the great visionary, the company organized a vibrant extravaganza in the steel city.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Mistry said, "It is the time to pay homage, its time to reflect on the values, on the entrepreneur spirit that has created this group and this organisation."

Jamshetji Nusserwanji Tata was born on March 3, 1839 and passed away on May 19, 1904.
