Washington, Apr 22 : Actress Angelina Jolie has signed on to play the lead in the big screen adaptation of author Patricia Cornwell’s mystery book series.

Jolie will portray the role of medical examiner Dr. Kay Scarpetta, reports Variety.

There are 16 Scarpetta novels, however, the new film won''t be made on a specific Cornwell mystery novel.

The opera-loving coroner Scarpetta will be the lead in a suspense thriller in the vein of "The Silence of the Lambs" and "Seven."

New York, April 22 : A New York woman has filed a lawsuit against a wedding guest for ruining her special day for life after announcing she had been sleeping with the groom.

Sandrina Purdum had tied the knot with groom Harold Purdum last September at the Naresa Palace catering hall in South Ozone Park.

Sandrina said that her husband’s former boss, Jennifer Angevine, had accused her of "f- - -ing up" things with Harold by tying the knot with him.

According to the New York Post, she claimed Jennifer said: “Me and Harry were good together. You had to ruin everything by marrying him. You f- - -ed everything up.”

Washington, Apr 22 : US Senator John Kerry has said that the Obama Administration’s plan for Pakistan “is not a real strategy.”

“Pakistan is in a moment of peril. And I believe there is not in place yet an adequate policy or plan to deal with it,” Kerry, the Democratic chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said.

Kerry advised the Obama Administration to stop using the term “Af-Pak”, to describe a unified strategy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, because “I think it does a disservice to both countries and to the policy.”

Washington, Apr 22 : The Obama Administration wants to pursue broader military ties with Pakistan in order to help Islamabad combat a growing threat from militant groups including the Taliban, a senior Pentagon official has said.

US Under Secretary of Defence for Policy Michele Flournoy said Washington wants to provide the Pakistani Army with training and advice on counterinsurgency tactics developed in Iraq and Afghanistan and support ongoing operations with intelligence and other assistance.
