Washington, Mar 28: US President Barack Obama has revealed that his seven-year-old daughter, Sasha, almost died as an infant.

During his first-ever White House Internet town-hall meeting, Obama said that Sasha developed life-threatening meningitis when she was just three months old.

"The doctors did a terrific job," Us magazine quoted him, as saying at the meeting Thursday.

"….but frankly it was the nurses that were there with us when she had to get a spinal tap, and all sorts of things that were just bringing me to tears,” he added.

London, March 28 : Richard Jenkins, a British engineer, has smashed the world land speed record for wind powered vehicles, by clocking 126.1 mph (miles per hour) in the Ecotricity Greenbird.

According to a report in the Telegraph, Jenkins beat the previous American-held record of 116mph, which was set by Bob Schumacher in the Iron Duck almost 10 years ago to the day at the same location.

Washington, Mar. 28 : The Pakistani neuroscientist, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, who is undergoing trial on charges of attempting to kill Americans in Afghanistan, has been accused of faking symptoms of mental illness to evade prosecution.

An assistant US prosecutor told the court here that medical examination of Dr. Siddiqui has revealed that she is in proper state of mind, and has no mental illness.

Washington, Mar 28: Senator John McCain has denounced President Barack Obama's new plan for sending additional troops to Afghanistan, saying it was "not enough" and suggested the President ought to have been clearer that there will be more troop casualties.

Washington, Mar. 28 : US Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman, Admiral Mike Mullen has confirmed media reports that Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has close links with Al-Qaeda and the Taliban network, and is offering logistical support them.

"There are certainly indications that's the case," The Dawn quoted Admiral Mullen, as saying.

Washington, Mar 28: Many shampoos, skin conditioners and soaps contain an ingredient that can cause eczema, warn Swedish scientists.

A thesis presented at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden found that over 5 percent of those who underwent patch testing were allergic to the air oxidized form of the fragrance ingredient linalool.

Eczema can cause a lot of different skin conditions, including rashes, swelling, itching and cracking.
