Washington, Apr 27 : College-aged women, who indulge in increased sexual activity and alcohol consumption, are more likely to develop urinary tract infections
(UTIs), according to a new study.

The researchers advised that the college-aged women experiencing urinary frequency or urgency should seek medical care to treat what may be their first urinary tract infection (UTI).

Washington, Apr 27 : People, who suffer from nocturia, the need to urinate at least twice during the night, could have a significantly high risk for mortality, according to a new study.

In the study, researchers demonstrated that there was a significantly increased mortality rate in elderly patients living in a Japanese assisted-living facility who suffered from nocturia, relative to other residents.

They conducted a comprehensive geriatric assessment of 788 residents 70 years old or older to determine incidence of nocturia.

Washington, April 27 : Archaeologists have found a fragment of a limestone plaque bearing several letters of ancient Hebrew script in Israel, which dates back to the period of the kings of Judah.

The excavation, being carried out on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA), was done in the vicinity of the Gihon Spring, within the precincts of the "Walls around Jerusalem National Park".

The stone fragment dates to the eighth century BCE and this is based on the numerous pottery sherds that were discovered together with it, as well as the shape of the Hebrew letters that are engraved in the inscription.

Researchers from Nashville, Dallas, San Antonia and Indianapolis randomly separated 200 men, with an age equal to or older than 40 years and at least a six-month diagnosis of BPH-LUTS with an International Prostate Symptom Score (IPPS) greater than or equal to 13, into two groups taking either 20 mg of tadalafil once daily or a placebo.

Washington, April 27 : Two new studies have shown that kids with a history of consuming melamine-contaminated milk powder are at a higher risk of developing kidney stones and other urological complications.

The study found that melamine calculus occurred mostly in infants at six months to 18 months after consuming melamine-contaminated milk powder after birth but that the stones could be effectively managed with noninvasive treatment.

Jakarta - Indonesia imposed an import ban on pork, in addition to increasing surveillance at all entry points for travelers with flu-like symptoms, to prevent the spread of swine flu, a cabinet minister said Monday. "The import of pork will be temporarily halted until a further progress concerning the swine flu, or until the condition was safe," said Aburizal Bakrie, the coordinating minister for people's welfare.
