Obama says military option in Afghanistan is not open-endedWashington, Mar. 23: President Barack Obama has said that the United States must look for a way out of the war in Afghanistan, suggesting that the military build-up in that landlocked country will not be open-ended.

“There’s got to be an exit strategy. There’s got to be a sense that this is not perpetual drift,” Obama told “60 Minutes” on CBS in a wide-ranging interview.

During the early stages of the HIV pandemic in the region, the disease passed unnoticed amidst the onslaught of other infections.

But after taking a closer look at the deadly disease, scientists have found that more often males with a higher than average education were contracting the disease.

MumbaiBrussels, Mar. 23 : The US Special Envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke has said that the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attack and the 9/11 are in Pakistan.

Addressing delegates at the Brussels Forum, Holbrooke said that the assassinators of the former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto are also present in the country itself.

"They're in Pakistan. In the western tribal areas, although it also extends down into Balochistan," The Nation quoted Holbrooke, as saying.

Drought reveals archaeological treasures in Iraq

Iraq & USWashington, March 23 : As the Euphrates River dries up in Iraq's western Anbar province, ancient buildings are emerging from the river bed, which archaeologists can now access for the first time.

According to a report by NPR (National Public Radio), the receding waters of the Euphrates River have revealed ancient archaeological sites, some of which were unknown until now.

That's because former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein had flooded these sites in the mid-1980s.
