Lahore, Dec. 20 : Former Pakistan test cricketer Shafqat Rana has termed the cancellation of Indian cricket team's tour to Pakistan as `very unfortunate'

He said that the decision of the Indian government will prove very damaging for cricket.

"The Indian government has deprived millions of cricket fans around the globe from top class cricket," The Daily Times quoted Rana as saying.

Rana said that India-Pakistan cricket has millions of fan following.

He said that sports and politics should not be mixed.

London, Dec 20 : Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is hell-bent on making club fans alter one of their chants. At every game the Red Devils faithful let the opposition know they not only won the Premier League last season and the Champions League too.

Now Rooney wants another line added on, with victory over Ecuador's Liga de Quito, Club World Cup final in Yokohama, The Sun reported.

Rooney said: "It is a great opportunity for us to become world champions. You don't get many chances to win this tournament so we want to win it."

Karachi, Dec. 20: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief selector Abdul Qadir has said that he will welcome banned players like Mohammad Yousuf and Mohammad Asif for selection in the national squad if they are cleared for the same by the PCB.

Qadir expressed that he will personally welcome Yousuf and Asif with open arms once they are cleared for selection procedures by the board.

"It is a fact that the cream of our cricket has defected to the Indian Cricket League (ICL). It includes some of our gems like Yousuf and I will happily welcome them back once the PCB clears them," he said.

Karachi, Dec. 20: Chief selector of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Abdul Qadir, has said that Pakistan will be raising a strong team against Sri Lanka for the upcoming series.

"We are aiming to raise a strong team for the series against Sri Lanka," Qadir said.

He said that his prime motive is to improve Pakistan's test ranking and use the series as a launchpad for the same. "Our aim is to help Pakistan gain a place among the top-two ranked (Test) teams in the world and want to start taking steps towards that direction with this series," the News quoted Qadir, as saying.

Pakistan is currently languishing on the sixth spot in the ICC test rankings.

Kuala Lumpur, Dec. 20: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) chief Qasim Zia has said that the final decision on whether to send their national hockey team on a tour to India rests on the government.

He said that the PHF will abide by the decision of the government.

"Pakistan team's tour of India would depend on the final decision from the government and if government allows, the team would tour as per schedule," the News quoted Zia, as saying.

Earlier, Pakistan Sports Minister Aftab Shah Jilani had expressed that the PHF should not sent Pakistan hockey team on Indian tour, as the Indian government didn't allow its cricket team to tour Pakistan.
