Lahore, Feb. 13 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed a committee to probe the controversy surrounding the 2006 Oval Test, whose result was twice changed.

Umpires Billy Doctrove and Darrell Hair ruled that Pakistan had forfeited the match after captain Inzamam-ul Haq refused to take the field against England following accusations of ball tampering.

Pressure from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) saw the result of the Test match changed from an England win to a draw by "match abandoned" by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in July.

Madrid - Spain striker David Villa told sports daily AS on Friday that "nobody has said to me that Valencia are going to sell me, or put a price tag on me."

Villa conceded that Valencia are heavily in debt and have not paid the salaries of the players since December, but, with regard to a possible sale, said that "it is not logical to talk about something that we don't know for sure is going to happen."

The International Biathlon Union (IBU) said that Ekaterina Iourieva and Dmitri Yaroshenko each failed two tests at the World Cup season-opener in Ostersund, Sweden, in early December. Albina Akhatova submitted one positive sample there as IBU boss Anders Besseberg spoke of organized doping.

Chennai, Feb. 13 : Mumbai fast bowler Dhawal Kulkarni, who topped the wicket-taking list in the Ranji Trophy season just gone by, is the new face in the Indian Test team selected for the tour of New Zealand.

Tamil Nadu Wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik and fast bowler Lakshmipathy Balaji have been recalled to the squad. Tamil Nadu opener M Vijay has also been included by the five-man slection committee chaired by former opener Krishnamachari Srikanth.

Islamabad, Feb. 13: Sacked Director General of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Javed Miandad has refuted reports of him having differences with Board Chairman Ijaz Butt, saying he wanted to serve Pakistan cricket and help regain its lost glory.

Miandad also denied that there was a financial issue behind his removal from the post, saying he is ready to serve to uplift the standard of the game in the country, free of cost.
