Terminally ill hockey goalie back in squad

Ice HockeyCologne, Germany - Robert Mueller was on Wednesday picked as reserve goalkeeper for German first division ice hockey team Koelner Haie, after revealing earlier in the week that he is terminally ill.

Mueller is suffering from a fast-growing brain tumor which doctors failed twice, in November 2006 and August 2008, to fully remove.

He went public via his doctor this week with the announcement, with the doctor saying that 70 per cent of the patients die within one year after the diagnosis and only three per cent live another five years.

Premier League clubs top European merchandising sales

English Premier League LogoHamburg - The English Premier League has the biggest merchandising potential in Europe with an income of 171 million euros (217 million dollars) in the 2007-08 season, a report released on Wednesday said.

According to the European Football Merchandising Report compiled by the German Sport + Markt agency, the Premier League ranks ahead of Spain's Primera Liga (145 million euros), the German Bundesliga (127), France's Ligue 1 (86), Italy's Serie A (64) and the Dutch Eredivisie (22).

The Scot polished his record to a perfect 2-0 as he beat the last player to enter the eight-man field. Simon gained a place at the last minute when world number one Rafael Nadal pulled out with a knee injury which will require a month or more to fully heal.

'Simon obviously is playing the best tennis of his life and he's in the top 10," said Murray.

Ferrari boss smashed TV after Hamilton won for McLaren

Lewis HamiltonLondon, Nov. 12: Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo smashed a television set after seeing McLaren's Lewis Hamilton snatch the Formula One world title from Felipe Massa in last weekend''s season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix.

"I broke the television, I must tell the truth," The Sun quoted Montezemolo as telling a news conference at a Ferrari event in Mugello on Sunday.

Hamilton wept with joy after becoming the youngest-ever Formula One world champion earlier this month, and roared: “I thank God for this.”

Shoaib suffers strain injury, doubtful to play in first ODI against W. Indies

Sources confirmed that the fast bowler suffered a right calf injury during training session.

Shoaib Akhtar was the centre peace of Pakistan team, but now his participation in the first ODI is doubtful, the Daily Times quoted a Geo News report as saying.
