UK Premier League wants tighter laws against pirate sites

London, Mar. 1 : The Premier League in the United Kingdom has called for tighter laws against IT theft to stop the unauthorized online broadcasting of football matches, the Daily Star reports.

One website which links to unauthorized live broadcasts of Premier League and other matches now attracts more traffic than the sites of broadcasters such as ITV, according to a report by Radio 4''s You and Yours program.

The site, based in the Netherlands, receives funding from online bookmaker bwin, which sponsors Real Madrid and AC Milan.

The Premier League said it was actively engaged in combating abuses of its rights, with legal notices sent to those found broadcasting matches to which they did not own the rights.

India beat New Zealand in last hockey test. seal series

Auckland (New Zealand), Mar. 1: India won the fourth men''s hockey test 2-0 against New Zealand in Auckland today to secure the series by the same margin.

Second-half strikes by Sandeep Singh and Dilip Tirkey settled the issue a day after the teams fought out a 1-1 draw at the same venue in the third international.

They were perhaps fortunate not to be behind at half-time after the New Zealanders felt they should have had a goal two minutes before the interval.

New Zealand were instead awarded a stroke after the ball hit an Indian body, stopping a certain goal.

The Indians successfully appealed on the grounds that the ball had hit a New Zealand foot earlier.

'It's not about football, Nor is it about parsis'

As French football star Zinedine Zidane, or Zizou, came to Bangladesh in 2006, he had no clue the visit would inspire an entire film. But that's exactly what happened. Taraporevala wrote a script around it and the result is Little Zizou.

"The film's about a 11-year-old football-crazy boy called Zerxes, who refers to himself as little Zizou and Zidane as big Zizou. When Zidane visits Bangladesh, Zerxes prays to his deceased mother to bring the football star to the country," says Taraporevala, and quickly clarifies the film is not really about football as such.
