Mumbai: Left-hand middle order batsman Yuvraj Singh, will lead the President's XI in a four day warm-up match against Australia in Hyderabad from October 2 to 5. Young Tamil Nadu batsman S Badrinath will act as vice-captain for the team.

The 15 member team also marks the come back for Sreesanth, Wasim Jaffer, Aakash Chopra, and wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel.

Irfan Pathan, S Sreesanth and Piyush Chawla will lead the bowling attack for the team. Along with Wasim Jaffer and Aakash Chopra, the team would also have the services of young batsman like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. 

Yusuf Pathan’s efficient batting skills proposed a difficult target for Newzealand. He saved Indian side from falling after a bad start by initial batsmen. The kiwis couldn’t reach target of 305 runs set by Indian side.

India was asked to bat first. The start of innings was not very hopeful. None of the starting batsmen could secure much runs for India. Robin Uthappa and Swapnil Asnodkar fell in the first two overs. Skipper Badrinath, Dinesh Karthick and Suresh Raina couldn’t secure commendable runs for India. Suresh Raina claimed four wickets.

In defence of Cricket Australia’s decision to go ahead with India tour, despite the serial blasts that took place on Saturday, Captain Ricky Ponting said that the security situation in India and Pakistan are different and the Australian team was confident of playing in India and not in Pakistan.

Abhinav Bindra the first Individual Gold Medalist ever of India completely denied the allegations put on him by the President of the National Rifle Association of India Digvijay Singh. Bindra in Jaipur said that he was not arrogant and ungrateful and that he had thanked everybody profusely after his arrival in New Delhi. 

He said nothing more to avoid controversies but instead emphasized on working hard to develop sports, also work towards the development of each deserving athlete.

Master blaster, Sachin Tendulkar termed Australia as a bigger rival of India than traditional Pakistan. He was clearly commenting on the forthcoming series with Australia and India. He stressed the need of competition and high standards of play in cricket matches. 

He also recalled the days when Indian team achieved a glorious victory over Australia in its home turf and Australian people liked the sports spirit and competitiveness of Indian team. He said that the Indian players need to be well prepared for coming series.
