The National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) would increase its Greenfield expansion in Indonesia and Iran. The company would complete its 3rd phase expansion with Rs6000cr through its internal sources. High power cost and increasing shortage of coal forced Nalco to amend capacity. The company would increase production of Alumina and aluminium in such location where power is easily available at low price.
Reliance Industries (RIL) is planning to release gas from its D6 well in the Krishna Godavari basin in January 2009. The company is the biggest private sector petroleum company of India. It has, recently started oil production from the Krishna Godavari basin. The company has good presence in many countries in exploration & production (E&P) of oil. It has 54 blocks of oil exploration in eight countries.
Tata Motors is all set to quit Singur. It is disclosed by West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee. The company is facing stiff opposition from Trinmool Congress and other local parties. Trinmool Congress leader Mamta Benergee is demanding 300 acres of land from the total land allotted to TATA Motors. TATA intended to produce world’s cheapest car, Nano, at its Singur plant.
Air India has signed a financial pact worth $550 million with the Export-Import Bank of US (Exim Bank). The company would use the amount to purchase eight new aircraft. The pact was signed between the chairmen of Exim Bank and Chairman and Managing Director of National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL), Raghu Menon.
Air India would buy three 777 aircraft and five 737-780 aircraft and the guarantee for the amount would be provided by the bank to Standard Chartered Bank.
Atlas Laboratories and Pharmaceuticals Ltd has made announcement that the company is foraying into the Over-The-Counter (OTC) segment as it envisages to diversify its overall product portfolio up to 100 drugs by year 2009.
While commenting on the plans, Mr. Ashwin Kapur, Executive Director of Atlas Laboratories and Pharmaceuticals (ALP) stated, “From the beginning of the next fiscal, we would have around 80-100 products under our portfolio and out of which 10-15 would be in the category of OTC segments.”
Tulip Telecom Ltd has informed that it has been awarded a contract worth Rs. 950 million by Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd.
As per the order, Tulip Telecom will build a state-wide area network on the Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis.
According to the sources, the proposed network, for a duration of 5 years, supports data, voice and video, and will facilitate the State to implement various e-Governance initiatives.
