Advani calls on family which attempted suicideNew Delhi, Mar 21 : L K Advani, senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday held the Central Government accountable for the recent incident wherein seven members of a poverty-stricken family tried to commit suicide.

Due to financial instability, a couple and their five minor daughters attempted suicide by consuming poison at their residence in West Delhi on Wednesday.

The couple is presently admitted in the Intensive Care Unit wherein their situation is said to be critical.

India seeks flag meeting with Pak over indiscriminate firing in UriNew Delhi, Mar 21 : The Indian Army has asked for a flag meeting after Pakistani troops reportedly fired throughout the night at Indian posts in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan authorities are yet to respond.

The Pakistan army indulged in a major breach of ceasefire, and fired between 1500 to 2000 rounds at Indian posts in the Kamalkote area of the Uri sector between 10:00 p. m. on Friday night and 3:00 a. m. on Saturday morning.

Indian police want death sentence for Mumbai terrorist New Delhi  - Mumbai police are seeking the death penalty for the lone gunman captured alive in terrorist attacks on the city in November last year, news reports said Saturday.

Jayant Patil, home minister of Maharashtra state, said police demanded death for Ajmal Amir Kasab, the PTI news agency reported.

Kasab, of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group, will face trial for murder and "waging war against India."
