Disabled in India to be empowered

Hamid AnsariNew Delhi, Dec 3 : Vice President Hamid Ansari understand the need for crashing a barrier free environment for persons with disabilities.

After presenting the ‘National Awards for the Empowerment of Persons with the Disabilities’ at a function organised by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment here today, Ansari said that disability needs to be part of all programmes, policies and legislation with the objective to achieve equality in all political, economic and social spheres.

Cannon still seems to be in honeymoon mode, as he has gone to the length of reportedly purchasing a diamond ring for the ‘Hero’ hitmaker for each room of the chalet which is located in Aspen, Colorado, reports China Daily.

“Nick is clearly still in the honeymoon phase. He''s shocked all their pals by going out of his way to nab Mariah this beautiful sanctuary,” a source told the Mirror.

Posh, who had recently launched her second collection of women’s clothes, spoke about the important features that are needed in the outfits, trying them out herself to see their defects, the China Daily reports.

“I put all the clothes on myself and walk around in it, and I know what feels comfortable. I know how a dress should sit,” she said.

Achuthanandan apologises for derogatory remarks on slain commando’s family

New Delhi, Dec. 3 : Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan has apologized to the family of slain commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan.

Under immense pressure from all the political parties and general public, Achuthanandan said “I deeply regret my comments.” “If my comments have hurt Major Unnikrishnan’s family, I’m sorry,” he added.

Cutting across party lines, all major political parties of the country had demanded anunconditional apology from Achuthanandan.

Earlier, Achuthanandan spoke before the Kerala Assembly, today, amidst immense pressure to take back his comments, he said that his comments were misinterpreted and he was quoted out of context.
