New Delhi, Apr. 9 : Senior Congress leader Jagdish Tytler on Thursday said he would abide by the party's decision on him contesting this year''s general elections in the wake of the Sikh community''s protest over his exoneration by the CBI in connection with the
1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi.

Tytler, who has contested and won three elections, chose to address a press conference to clarify his stand before the media and the public.

New Delhi, Apr 9 : The Standard Chartered Bank on Thursday organised a motor rally under the caption `Seeing Is Believing' for visually challenged people.

The intended purpose of the rally was to make the visually impaired feel included.

During the rally, each visually impaired participant or navigator was paired with a driver. Each navigator was given a map with clear instructions on time, distance, and landmarks in braille.

New Delhi, Apr 9 : Petroleum Secretary R. S. Pandey on Thursday launched the eighth round of the New Exploration Licensing Policy (NELP), and said the offer would remain open for four months till August 10, 2009.

The Ministry has also thrown open 70 new blocks for bids to the Indian and foreign companies for exploration of oil and natural gas.

"Out of 70 blocks, 24 are in deep water, 24 in shallow water and 18 on land. 10 blocks under Coal Bed Methane were also opened for bidding," Pandey told reporters here.

Engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro has informed that it has bagged various orders worth Rs 605 crore in the last quarter of financial year 2009.

Providing details regarding the latest orders bagged, the company said, that it has received Rs 165 crore order from the Andhra Pradesh Government for supplying potable water, which has to be completed in 15 months.

Further, the company has received Rs 133 crore order from the Delhi Jal Board for designing and laying pipelines. The project is scheduled to be completed in 21 months.

New Delhi, Apr 9 : A Kakardooma Court on Thursday postponed the hearing on the Central Bureau of Investigation''s (CBI) plea for closing the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case against former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler.

The court will hear the arguments from both sides on April 28 and 29.

The court held that all evidence filed pertaining to the case needs to be analysed before taking a decision on the CBI''s final closure report.

New Delhi, Apr 9 : President Pratibha Patil on Thursday inaugurated the initial phase of the National Knowledge Network (NKN).

On the occasion, Patil said Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has played an important role in the country's progress.
