Manmohan Singh eager to resume office earlyNew Delhi, Jan 26 : Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh continues to make excellent progress in his recovery following the 11 hour long heart surgery performed on him on Saturday.

According to reports, he sat up this morning and had some semi-solid food. Several of his invasive monitoring lines have been removed and physiotherapy is being given to enable early mobilisation.

Dr Manmohan Singh is regularly conversing with his family and doctors.

Noted environmentalist Sunderlal Bahuguna, Missionaries of Charity head Sister Nirmala and nuclear scientist Anil Kakodar are among the 10 Indians named for the Padma Vibhushan, a Rashtrapati Bhavan communiqué announced on Sunday.

Their names were announced posthumously today.

PM doing fine, to be ''fully active'' within six weeks

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Jan. 24 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is `doing fine' as he has been taken off the ventilator after undergoing a successful coronary by-pass surgery to overcome multiple blockages to his heart.

Dr Ramakant Panda who led the team of doctors during Singh's surgery said, "The 76-year-old Prime Minister is doing fine now. He is conscious. He also met his family and congratulated all doctors. Ventilator has been taken off and he is breathing on his own. This is an important step."

World leaders wish Manmohan Singh a speedy recovery

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Jan. 25 : Leaders from across the world have sent their good wishes to the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, who is recuperating in the All India Medical Sciences (AIIMS) undergoing a coronary by-pass surgery to overcome multiple blockages in his heart.

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani have sent bouquets and good wishes for speedy recovery of Dr. Singh.

The King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk has also wished for the speedy recovery of Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Delhiites wish speedy recovery to Manmohan Singh

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Jan. 25 : Residents of Delhi on Sunday joined the rest of the nation in expressing concern over Prime Minister Manmohan Singh''s health and wished him speedy recovery after he had undergone a sucessful artery bypass surgery.

Ajay Gupta, a city resident, said the country needs Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

"We wish him (Prime Minister Manmohan Singh) all the success and a good speedy recovery. We really hope that he is back to his job as soon as possible because he is one of the ablest men that we have. And we really need him at this hour," Gupta said.
