Centre holding high-level meet to review security after serial blasts

New Delhi, July 27 : Union Home Minister Shivraj PatilUnion Home Minister Shivraj Patil is convening a high-level here today to review security situation in the country.

A meeting of relevant government institutions and officials will begin at 11:00 am to establish the cause behind the Ahmedabad and Bangalore blasts, and to mull what steps were needed to counter this menace.

Meanwhile, a group describing itself as the “Indian Mujahideen” that had sent an e-mail claiming responsibility for the Ahmedabad serial blasts and warning of possible attacks in future, has been traced.

BJP protests government''s recent deposition in court on Ram Setu

Ram SetuNew Delhi, July 26 : Activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took to streets here on Saturday against the Central government''s recent deposition on Controversial Ram Setu in Tamil Nadu.

The protesters carrying placards shouted slogan''s against the government which recently issued a statement that Lord Rama not only built the Ram Setu but also destroyed it himself.

The party leaders accused the government of hurting religious sentiments of millions of Hindus.

Six blasts reported from India's western Ahmedabad city

AhmedabadNew Delhi  - At least six synchronized blasts were reported from India's western city of Ahmedabad city on Saturday wounding seven people, media reports said.

The explosives were planted on bicycles in crowded market places in Ahmedabad which is among the top commercial cities in India, the NDTV network reported.

The blasts occurred in the Maninagar, Sarangpur, Isanpur, Diamond Market, Bapu Nagar and Narol Circle areas, all in eastern Ahmedabad.

The city is located 50 kilometres south-west of Gandhinagar, state capital of Gujarat state.

Affected parents have been given the right to have another child, as also those whose only child was seriously wounded in the quake.
