New Delhi, Aug 4 : The caretaker Prime Minister of Nepal, Girija Prasad Koirala today met Congress President Sonia Gandhi and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukerjee here.

Koirala is transiting through New Delhi to Nepal after attending the 15th SAARC Summit in Colombo.

The leaders discussed bilateral ties and issues of mutual interest during their meeting.

Leader of opposition L. K. Advani also met Koirala separately.

New Delhi - Parents wailed for their dead children as relatives identified their loved ones Monday, a day after a stampede at a Hindu temple in India's northern state of Himachal Pradesh claimed 145 lives, officials and news reports said.

Rumours of a landslide caused the stampede at the hilltop shrine of Naina Devi in the Bilaspur district, 320 kilometres north of New Delhi. At least 80 victims were women and children.

New Delhi, Aug 4 : After getting the approval of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors on the India-specific safeguards agreement, India will seek the support of Japan in the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) today. 

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will meet his Japanese counterpart Masahiko Koumura here this morning.

Mukherjee will seek Japan''s support for the nuclear deal in the NSG, which is expected to meet in Vienna on August 21 to consider a waiver for India to allow it to resume nuclear commerce with the international community after a gap of over three decades.

New Delhi, Aug 4 : The fourth meeting of the Mission Steering Group (MSG) of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) will be held here today.

Apart from reviewing the progress of the mission so far, the Group will discuss important issues of extension of the scheme of Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) to all states along with extending their incentive scheme to performance based payment under National Leprosy Eradication Programme.

The Group will also discuss human resource augmentation for Disease Surveillance System.

New Delhi, Aug 4 : Afghan President Hamid Karzai will meet Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh here today and will hold talks on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual concern to both countries.

Cooperation between both countries and security related issues are expected to dominate the talks.
