Three Maoist rebels killed in gunbattle in eastern India New Delhi - At least three Maoist rebels, including a top commander, were killed and several injured in an overnight encounter with security forces in India's eastern Jharkhand state, a news report said Tuesday.

The clash broke out late Monday when a police and paramilitary forces contingent raided a Maoist hideout in the Vishnugarh jungles in Hazaribagh district, 130 kilometres north of the state capital Ranchi, the PTI news agency reported.

China urges U.S. to stop supporting Dalai Lama

US, ChinaNew Delhi, July 28 : China has urged the United States to stop supporting and conniving with Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama. Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao made the remarks when commenting on a report that Republican presidential candidate John McCain had met the Dalai Lama on Friday.

“China is seriously concerned about the report," Liu said, adding that the Tibet issue is China''s domestic affair.

He urged the relevant people in the United States to abide by the basic principles of international relations.
