Union government has allowed OVL, foreign subsidiary of ONGC, to go for the acquisition of UK-listed Imperial Energy at the original prices of $2.5-billion. The deal was approved by the government in August when it allowed OVL to participate in the bidding process for the acquisition of Imperial Energy.

Sheila Dikshit will be the Chief Minister of Delhi for a third time.

The Congress Wednesday chose Sheila Dikshit to be Delhi’s chief minister for a third term, with party president Sonia Gandhi coming out in her support.The newly elected 42 Congress legislators, Dikshit included, passed a resolution authorising Gandhi to name a chief minister.

Lok Sabha member Chaudhary Munawwar Hasan was killed in a road accident near Palwal in Haryana on Wednesday.

He was 45.

Hasan "was brought dead to Apollo Hospital at 3 am," a hospital spokesperson said.

Hasan was elected on a Samajwadi Party ticket from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh in 2004, had defected to BSP at the time of July 22 trust votes.

He was expelled by the Samajwadi Party which also filed a petition seeking his disqualification from the House.

10 new MPs were administered oath by Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari today including Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh and his party colleague Ram Gopal Yadav.

Of the total 10 MPs who were administered oath in the Upper House, five belong to BSP, two are from BJP and one MP is an Independent, apart from the two SP MPs.

BSP MPs included Akhilesh Das, who earlier this year had joined the party after leaving the Congress, Brijesh Pathak, Veer Singh, Rajaram, and Avtar Singh Karimpuri.

The cosmetic giant ‘Unilever’ is going to launch a range of deodorants that promise to reduce armpit hair. The new deodorant will not only give you a lasting fragrance, but would also reduce the growth of underarm hair which will be a great relief to all the women round the globe.

Unilever predicts that the product will be so popular among women that it will generate £10m sales in the first year. The deodorant will be available in supermarkets from January next year.  

A new study compares Bariatric patients with obese patients who have lost weight by changing their diet and exercise. The study published by the International Journal of Obesity, compares the two methods of losing weight—surgical and non surgical. According to the researchers from Miriam Hospital's Centres for Behavioural and Preventive Medicine, patients who believed in non-surgical methods, had to work harder over a longer duration to maintain their weight losses.
