Thousands of people will attend funeral of NYPD officer Brian Moore

On Friday, thousands of people are expected to attend funeral of officer Brian Moore. Last week, the officer was shot, when he was on duty in New York. He will be given a final salute at a funeral at St. James Roman Catholic Church in Long Island.

It is expected that approximately 30,000 people will be attending his funeral, together with police officers from New York City and across the country. City and state government buildings have also been prepared in his memory; flags will be flown in order to honor him all week. According to New York Police Commissioner William Bratton, in less than five years of his brief career, he proved that he was a brilliant officer.

Moore, 25, and his fellow officer were shot, when they were questioning a man in Queens on Saturday. Other officer was not injured, while Moore was hit in the head. Bratton added that the officer was dedicated to his job and his commitment was outstanding.

According to Bratton, "In that career, he had made over 159 arrests protecting and serving the citizens of this city". Moore received two exceptional police service medals. And according to Moore, these medals are not given easily and Moore earned them by working for them.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said that it was Moore's dream to serve as a New York police officer and he worked really well what is expected from a good police officer.

Moore came from a New York police officers' family. According to the NYPD, on Saturday, Moore and another officer, Erik Jansen, 30, were in an unmarked police vehicle in Queens when they saw a person walking by adjusting something in his waistband and Moore was shot dead after clash with that person.
